Ways to Fundraise for Wildlife
Appalachian Wildlife Refuge operates solely through donations and community support. Thanks to your help, we have saved and released thousands of orphaned and injured wildlife, help thousands of people each year, and provide conservation education and a
7-day-a-week Wildlife Emergency Hotline to the public. You can help save even more wild lives by helping Appalachian Wild raise funds! It's easy, and there are lots of fun ways you can fundraise to increase your impact for the wild ones who need us! |

A glimpse at past fundraisers supporters have held
on behalf of Appalachian Wildlife Refuge:
Hill Fowler, a young wildlife lover, took it upon himself to approach his neighbors and trusted adults he knew to pledge a certain amount of money for each lap he rode his bike around the park to donate to AWR. Incredibly, young Hill raised an astounding $1,000 with his heartfelt bike-a-thon, making a tremendous impact for orphaned and injured wildlife! |
The fine print:
All of us here at Appalachian Wildlife Refuge are wildly grateful for any efforts on your part to help raise funds for wildlife in need! Your compassion for the wild ones is the fuel that keeps our life-saving work running.
As a developing non-profit focused on maximizing the impact we're making for orphaned and injured wildlife, all fundraising efforts carried out in-house are done by AWR's Development Coordinator, Kerri Conrad, (that's me!), and a small group of volunteers who pitch in when they can. As such, AWR's ability to participate hands-on in outside fundraising efforts is somewhat limited, and we are sincerely grateful for your understanding that we unfortunately cannot take on every idea brought to us.
While we love partnering with members of our community to make the biggest impact, please know, due to capacity, we can only take on a certain number of events each year. We are unable to share peer to peer fundraising campaigns on our social media pages, but we are happy to provide watermarked content and preferred verbiage for any supporters who are kind enough to fundraise on the wild one's behalf.
As a final disclaimer for those fundraising for AWR outside of Facebook or the GiveLively P2P campaign links: Please know that collecting donations for a nonprofit organization is serious business that AWR reports to the IRS. While we have never encountered an AWR supporter who would dream of violating the trust and goodwill of anyone donating to a crowdfunding campaign, please ensure any material posted on AWR's behalf accurately portrays the intent to support Appalachian Wildlife Refuge, and does not portray wildlife being handled by non-wildlife professionals or being mistreated in anyway.
In most cases, it is desired to encourage your contacts to donate directly to Appalachian Wildlife Refuge rather than collecting the money yourself. This can be done via the Peer to Peer Fundraising campaign link found above, by creating your own Facebook fundraiser through the provided link, by giving online via www.appalachianwild.org, or by mailing a check to Appalachian Wildlife Refuge, PO Box 824, Candler, NC 28715. For any questions, please reach out to Kerri Conrad, Development Coordinator, at [email protected]
