Development Coordinator Accepting applications until position is filled
General Description: The Development Coordinator is responsible for working closely with Appalachian Wild leadership to plan, supervise and execute donor stewardship, communication and fundraising. The Development Coordinator communicates and cultivates relationships with donors, foundations, process contributions, manages specific donor programs and spear heads other fundraising initiatives to meet the annual goals and future planning of Appalachian Wild.
Duties & Responsibilities: The Development Coordinator has a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Face-to-face meetings with large donors and or donor groups.
Processing donations including generating and printing acknowledgements.
Maintains annual Development Plan and Development Calendar to meet and exceed annual operating budget
Works closely with the Outreach Team to create outreach material
Helps with upkeep of website for areas pertaining to development
Works closely with Operations Team to identify specific needs and projects and works to secure funding sources and/or in-kind donations
Grant writing.
Oversight of fundraising campaigns such as; End-of-year appeal, monthly donors, employee matching programs, items sold through Bonfire, Paypal Giving Fund, AmazonSmile and others.
Corresponding with donors, answering their questions, and conveying information about the organization and donor programs.
Works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to manage volunteers and activities for events, raffles, auctions and more.
Cultivates and engages community partners to raise funds, hold supply drives, host events, and raise awareness.
Maintains team of development volunteers through Development Committee to manage annual development plans and calendar
Other duties/responsibilities as required.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate:
Has at least two years of fundraising experience
Holds an undergraduate degree in a related field of studies or equivalent experience
Possess a commitment to wildlife, conservation, and the environment
Possess a passion for philanthropy and mission driven organizations
Possess a strong understanding of and experience with large fundraising initiatives and seasonal appeals
Possess a strong understanding of and experience with grant writing, proposals, and reporting
Strong writing and communication skills to help share the Appalachian Wild mission and connect with supporters
Experience with DonorPerfect or other constituent management systems
Experience organizing and successfully operating small to large scale events
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Possess a strong personal work ethic, positive attitude, superior public relations skills, have a high level of integrity, and is flexible and adaptable
Passion for excellent customer service, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
Strong computer proficiency.
Possess a willingness to work, grow and evolve in a team environment and possess the skills and ability to work independently
Willingness and ability to work through stressful situations professionally and utilize problem solving skills
Willingness to improve upon skills, experiences, and knowledge through professional development and continued education opportunities
Must have a solid understanding of and dedication to fulfilling Appalachian Wild’s mission
Must be 18 years or older, dependable and reliable
Compensation: This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, position receiving $17.00 per hour, paid bi-monthly. This position is primarily present in the Animal Care facility located in Candler, NC. A set weekly schedule will be established at time of hire with some flexibility on how the 40 hours is set up throughout the week.
