Exciting News!Wands for Wildlife®, which began as a program at Appalachian Wild, has grown into a global nonprofit!
It started back in March of 2017, when Appalachian Wild's Executive Director and Co-founder Savannah Trantham's social media post went viral, asking for used mascara wands to help remove fly eggs and larva from the fur and feathers of wild animals.
While Appalachian Wild is proud to have founded the Wands for Wildlife® program, the adventure grew beyond the scope and mission of our wildlife rehabilitation facility, taking on a life of its own.(which is great)!

Wands for Wildlife® is now operating as its own entity and nonprofit, outside of Appalachian Wild.
This allows Appalachian Wild to focus on helping the wildlife of Western North Carolina, while the team at Wands for Wildlife® expands efforts to support wildlife rehabilitation along with encouraging greater mindfulness of the impact of human activities, including the use of plastics, on the environment. |
The Wands for Wildlife® organization is inspiring people around the world to help wild animals and the environment through the re-purposing of discarded mascara wands.
