Volunteer Coordinator

General Description:
The Volunteer Coordinator plays an extensive role in recruitment, engagement and retention of volunteers for all aspects of the organization. Working to generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and role descriptions based on the ever changing needs. Promoting volunteer opportunities through recruitment initiatives and events to attract new volunteers. Supporting and motivating volunteers to ensure they enjoy, appreciate and understand their valued contributions to the efforts of the organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Volunteer Coordinator has a wide range of duties that include, but are not limited to:
➔ Arrange and conduct volunteer orientations and training sessions
➔ Actively assess and fill open volunteer needs
➔ Act as a communication liaison between staff and volunteers to assess and meet needs across the organization
as well as oversight and management of active volunteers
➔ Maintains active communication and engagement with volunteers, along with the community, schools and other
organizations
➔ Assist volunteers through scheduling and following up for tracking of hours
➔ Organize, attend, and promote volunteer recruitment events
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate:
➔ Must have at least 2 years experience in personnel management or volunteer coordination for a non-profit
➔ Must have excellent organization, time management, team management, and communication skills
➔ Possess a strong personal work ethic, positive attitude, superior public relations skills, and have a high level of
integrity
➔ Have experience with Better Impact or related Volunteer Management system
➔ Possess strong computer proficiency
➔ Possess a willingness to work, grow and evolve in a team environment
➔ Must have a solid understanding of and dedication to fulfilling Appalachian Wild’s mission
Compensation:
This is a part-time, 30 hours per week, position receiving $10.30/hour, paid bi-monthly. This position is required to be present in the Animal Care facility located in Candler, NC with the exception of recruiting and offsite appointments/
meetings.
